Life at IIT Guwahati

A Beautiful Evening at IIT Guwahati, Taken from my balcony

College life plays an important role it shaping the personality of a student. That's what is the case with me. I have always been all-rounder, right from childhood. School times had been exploring my interests, participating in events/competitions and yes, I did win too :D

But, coming to IIT proved to be a turning point. This was a huge platform. This place has a dedicated club for each of my interests - Music, Drama, Sports etc...
As I got it, I started nurturing my interests and started getting good response from the hostel mates.

Example:
Try imagining this:
Inter-Hostel Cultural Fest - A first year is given responsibility to write the serious drama for the competition. With the help of friends for dialogues, I was successful in  writing the drama, and we stood 1st in the competition. Thanks to awesome acting by seniors, watching your our drama (baby) LIVE is a victory in itself. Bliss!

EDC - Entrepreneurship Development Cell, IIT Guwahati
Right from Childhood, I had this thing in me to create something, start a venture of my own - first to create employment and second the passion to start a organization of my own.

It was only when I was introduced to the cell, I understood ... that ' something' is called "Entrepreneurship".

I clearly remember, 2nd semester - 2011, the time when I explored entrepreneurship and the seed of a budding entrepreneur in me was sowed.

Its been 3 years, and I have made 3 Business Plans. Presented those Idea's at Brain-Child - The Annual Business Plan at Techniche - Annual Technical Fest, IIT Guwahati.

I would share my rest of the experience on another blog. :)

Big Plan #1 - To Bring Change
Final Year is all about people asking you what to do in life. I will graduate to become an Electrical Engineer. But as a responsible citizen of the Indian nation, I was to use my stillset to bring a change in the country. And one of the way is to join Indian civil services, fight, struggle and change the system.
Remove Corruption, dirty politics and bring better governance, fast working  in the working of the system.

Remember the inspiring dialogue from the move - Rang De Basanti:
"Desh kaise badlega?"
"Koi Desh perfect nahi hota hai, usse perfect banana padta hai. Defense join karenge, Civil Serives main jaayenge, Politics join karenge ... hum badlenge desh!"

Big Plan #2 - A Start-up
Its not just about entering politics or joining the civil services. One can help & contribute in nation's growth. Today India is the next Silicon Vally. We have more that 60% of the population below the age of 35 years. Its the call for the young generation to experiment !
I would see myself as starting a venture of my own, within the next 10 years, not only generate employment, but also create products that would help people a mass.

Big Plan #3 - Author
Writing has always been my passion. Starting my own blog was the game-changer. I have various writings. And readers have loved them, they always encouraged me to keep writing.
With around 20 blog posts, this blog will be soon touching 1-5-0-0-0 fifteen THOUSAND Hits.

The best response has been to the post : "Things required in Hostel" ,which accounts to about 5-0-0-0 alone.

Try This: Search on Google: "Things required in Hostel" and my blog link will be among Top 3 Google Search Result...!

In the next five years, I want to publish my first Novel on the non-fiction genre. And that's coming soon I would say.

Big Plan #4 - Photography
This is not a plan, but I would love to explore more of photography. Send messages of peace and harmony through pictures.

"Photograph is capturing memory for a lifetime"

Its not about becoming something in life. Thinking about the future, is a waste of time. We should learn to utilize the beautiful gift from god 'Present', and put all our energy in making the best out of each day. Thrive to learn something new, and do best everyday and believe that then the future will be definitely be bright.

People will say do this, do that, but listen to your heart. Remember, working on what you LOVE will be a child's play, if that's be your job.

Life is a long journey, never loose hope. Keep doing.

I firmly believe and try practicing the lessons from Bhagwatgita:

" Karma is utmost important. Karma is described as doing, not for self, but for others. Aim of the individual should be to work for the benefits of others, and leave the rest with the Almighty Lord Krishna"
