My Experiment With Fire

Image
Unlike Mahatma Gandhiji, who took several years of learning and experimenting with the ‘truth’, I look only a few days of my life for ‘my experiment with fire’. Let us see how and what all happened. Thanks to my father’s transferable job that took us to a small city in Madhya Pradesh. Location: Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh Year: 1994 Life was slow there and those times were like that too I believe. We had time for everything. My school was hardly 5 minutes walk from my house.  It was winter of that year, may be month of November, and the nights had started to turn chilly. Nobody likes leaving the warmth from the bed, to go out in such a chilly morning. But, we had the school to attend. So we had to leave the comfort in such cold mornings, to prepare for the daily school. After my mother prepared the Tiffin, she would accompany me and my younger brother to school. Sometimes, my younger brother, ( 3 years old at that time ) would cry and refuse to enter the school p

Childhood – Our Best Time of Life

Image
I call it the most memorable & enjoyable time of life. There were no rules and restrictions imposed on our ‘innocence’. We were loved by everyone, making home after school (especially during playschool &  K.G) brought smiles on our mother. Going to grandparents during vacations released stress of a lifetime, gave them a new life in all. Those were the most cherished moments of our life. We, many times, took advantage of all that and went one experimenting with many things. We tried to dress like our mothers and fathers, imitated them, made them laugh and made them cry too. Made lots of  friends; girls & boys at that time were of the same gender that was of ‘Children’. We were free in thought & clean at heart. Only with time we get the gender tag as 'male' or 'female'. Lot of changes happen as time passes. But as time passes, we don't realize that we are leaving behind a bunch full of moments 'happy' and 'sad' that when

Revealing: The Story Behind The Name

About thousand years back, when the state of Rajputana was ruled by the mighty Rajputs, the brave and fearless clan, there was a kingdom named ‘Sultanpur’,the birth place of many such great warriors. The kingdom was ruled by Majaraja Gyan Singh, he had four children, 3 boys and a girl, named after lord Krishna : Shyam, Gopal, Kanahiya & Radha, the daughter. In those days, there were no schools, this does not mean that there was no education at tht time, there were gurukuls, where most of the children of the kingdom were admitted for education under a ‘guru’. This kingdom had a guruji named ‘Bhimashankarachariya’. A special thing about this particular kingdom was that a special honored name was given after the children completed the final stage of the education. The children were taught Vedic Science and Mathematics, Arts and crafts that included painting, pottery, sculpture design etc.. and also Sanskrit, which opened the window to the ancient texts. And later th

Let Us All Pray!

Image
Taken at Don Bosco Church, Shillong, Meghalaya: An Old lady praying at the church one fine evening Looking at her, I am reminded of a thought, a thought that the so called generation-NeXT, have forgotten to pray. Some say or think that doing that would not suit their 'CooOl" personality. Some say that it's just waste of time. But there are times when we really need to call back to god. This happens mostly in tense situations, say if you are caught by the traffic police drinking and driving, or you met with an accident, rather than hurting to self, you have seriously injured the opposite driver, you happen to be underage enjoying the night in the city's most happening club and guess what there is a police/Narcotics raid there and you become afraid of not letting this 'NEWS' to your parents and then you are forced to pray.. Why not pray when you are happy, why not thank him giving you another 'day' to live and enjoy the beautiful life that he has giv

The Exam Fever – A Monster to Students ! ! !

An inside story of student life at IIT: tough, enjoyable, crazy, amazing!  “Exams are to test you on what you know, but Results are only the representation of your knowledge at that particular day, it does not represent your actual knowledge and a human being should be never be judged according to the marks of the student” – Gunti It’s been a little while that I posted a new blog entry. Genuinely I was not able to think of a good topic for the same. But then I found it, the exam fever. I will not be talking about the school exams, they are usually in the month of March-April, but today I will be talking of the exams for the undergraduate students, especially the engineering stream. I will take you to the coffee shops, the Khokkha, the laboratories and the hostel scenes during the exam time. Come let’s take a look together. I will be uploading this episode by episode, part by part, I will take you to the days of the examination feel of IIT Guwahati, most of the things

Money Vs Power

Image
“If you want to feel rich, just count the things you have that money can't buy” We usually talk about power and money, two different things in all but are they inter-related?  Let’s check it out! Money is considered the wealth amongst the society. Money in today’s world is of prime importance in societies, not only in India, but throughout the globe . Whatever we think and whatever we tend to do, our actions are bound with the perspective of consideration of the money factor in it. Today, personality of a human is considered by how much does the person has bank-balance. Nobody sees how good a human being is, his talent, quality, or the manners he has. Money is over all this. Officers in government, CEO of Public as well as private sector companies fill up their pockets with the money as they never saw even a penny. The main aim of the jobs today for the employees are that how much they fill their pocket, and not how enjoyable the job is. In such a

Women Power - It can change the face of the country!!

Everything happens for the first time, in fact this is true. I am writing a blog has also happening for the first ever time. But my writing is not new, I have been writing since my childhood days. I was amongst the two from my 5 th standard those were chosen to represent the school for the Anchor Week. As humans, we believe that if something happens for the first time, it needs to be ‘special’. I also believe the same, so let’s make my first blog special. So, for this, I needed a topic that is to a general interest. I dedicate this blog to the one women that has always supported me in time and in pain, loved me equally as my other sibling, cared for me as such no other thing in this world existed except for me, and I love you too ….- “My Dear Mother” !! Now, don’t get too sentimental, let us talk about the topic indeed. The topic for this article is “Women –Power”, interesting is it not? Women power is still in the hype these days. Especially with the successful wom
